*Tries to install the Ashampoo Toolbar during installation and change your homepage. Uncheck during installation if you don't want. [GOTD version may not have this -- I don't know.]
*Can burn DVDs but cannot author DVDs. The difference is when you burn a movie DVD you are putting DVD compliant videos (i.e. VOB) onto a DVD; if you burn non-DVD compliant videos onto the DVD, like AVI or MP4, the DVD just acts like a VCD instead of a proper DVD. When you author a movie DVD, you take non-DVD compliant videos (e.g. AVI, WMV, MP4, etc.), convert them to DVD compliant format (i.e. VOB), and burn them onto a DVD.
*Ripping/copying DVDs cannot bypass DRM protection
*Must provide your e-mail address for registration
*Larger and more resource intensive than rival burning software; "bloated" some may even say

I like Burning Studio and I've bought previous versions. I was even considering upgrading very soon. However this GOTD download has caused me to reconsider ever getting anything from Ashampoo again. I've tolerated their endless emails bombarding me with upgrade offers and deals on their software, but this download makes me mad.
This download will hijack stick a toolbar on all your browsers and change the default search engine to ashampoo. The install didn't prompt me for any of that. It just changed, my Firefox, ID and Chrome browsers without my permission. In my opinion this POS software now qualifies as MALWARE.
This GAOTD is one of the best cheaper alternatives to NERO available on the market right now.
Great choice for burning both Audio & Video files, can also design and print covers and booklets on the fly!!

It would be good if Ashampoo would put the software, Burning Studio 2013, on their website that they provide us the link for.

The difference between this free version and the pay version is - the pay version will let you drag AVI or MOV or MP4 files in and it will automatically convert and burn a DVD-Video disc at the highest bitrate possible for the total time of the files you drag in, and you can mix AVI and MOV and MP4 and more all together and make a DVD-Video disc. It is great for that! This free version will burn a DVD-Video disc only if you convert and prepare the files some other way, it will burn a disc in DVD-Video format but it does not do those video conversions. And the pay version has basic video editor functions like cut or trim and simple titles.
Be careful to go slow and choose the custom installation and uncheck the Ashampoo toolbar, if you don't want it, and you probably do not want it.
Otherwise this GOTD is a free commercial quality and top quality burning and audio ripping program.
If you get too many promotional emails from Ashampoo, you can opt out any time and they are good about honoring that.
