This GAOTD is actually one of the BEST and more complete screenshots captures ever released so far.
It can also record any screen activity you may be involved, with the ability to capture any sound coming from your microphone and/or sound card.
So it's a great tool especially for those folks out there engaged in Video Tutorials and e-learning courses.
2 HUGE THUMBS from me to the product but a THUMBS DOWN to the developer.
Why? Because of their SPAM policy ? Nope...after all to bypass this (silly) issue it's enough to give them a fake or secondary email address (did you know that, dudes?? LOL!!).
My complain is that most of the time developers here are committed to give us only an OUTDATED version of their main program, in the hope we buy the new full one.
And unfortunately the new version of this program (v6) is far better than this GAOTD.

So wouldn' it better to give us the LAST FULL version of whatsoever program for FREE and then apply a little extra charge for any possible UPDATES of it, should we decide that it's worth using it in the future??
After all this was the original mission on the basis of which this website was launched a few years ago, wasn't it?
What do you make of it, dudes?

Pros
*Has the ability to take screenshots or record screen
*Has multiple screenshotting methods, including scrolling window, single window, free region, menu capture, and timed capture
*Has multiple screen recording methods, including single window, free region, and webcam
*Has a built-in image editor which can be used to edit screenshots after they have been taken
*Screenshots can be snapped in ‘single’ mode or ‘multiple’ mode
*In addition to recording your screen, screen recording has the ability to capture sound from your sound card (i.e. whatever you would hear from your speakers) or to record sound from your microphone
*Screen recording has the ability to temporarily zoom-in to your mouse area while recording
*You can choose to capture — or not to capture — mouse cursor when screenshotting or screen recording
*Screenshots can be saved as BMP, JPG, PNG, PDF, or an Ashampoo-specific format
*Videos can be saved as AVI or WMV
*Allows three ways for users to activate screenshot and screen recording functionality: a pull-out toolbar, system tray icon, and hotkeys
*Reasonable price (for those that want to buy it)
Cons
*Goes into an annoying full-screen mode after you capture something (aka when you are at the editor/the place to save). There is no minimize ability when you are at this screen; the only way to switch to a different window or task without losing your captured screenshot or video is to Alt + Tab (or to save the screenshot/video, after which the program comes out of full-screen mode and returns you to your work).
*Sets itself to automatically run at Windows boot. You need to manually disable this behavior from options. (Not very many people, myself included, want a screenshot/screen recording program automatically start at boot. We only want it running when we need it.)

I think it's interesting so many people "complain" about getting their inbox filled with this companies emails. Sorry, but that's NOT been MY experience.
1st - you have to be awake when you register, as they have you opting into email notifications by default. Just un-check the opt-in box! It's not that difficult!
2nd - if you DO get on their list(s) just un-subscribe, and stop whining about a few emails. They are a business and have to sell to make a profit and stay in business.
They make pretty good software (I have a couple of their products - one I actually paid for), and it might be better if we show a little gratitude for free software - even if it might be an older version.
JMO anyway, but there it is.
Some companies think it is acceptable to offer an older, less capable version of their software. The idea is that some users will upgrade to the newer version. This is certainly their right but not something I want to see. There area MANY free screenshot programs that are just as capable as this one. If you do register with Ashampoo, be prepared to be constantly nagged by offers fro new software and software you have already purchased. This company apparently has trouble keeping accurate records of your purchases.
Overall a very good screen capture program, with loads of extra features such as the inclusion of a watermark feature and highly configurable settings menu that most screen capture programs I know of don't include (eg Capture Wiz Pro, Snagit, FastStone Screen Capture etc). They've even removed the annoying toolbar and home page changes from the installation wizard; though we now get a shortcut installed to the desktop that if clicked on will take us to Ashampoos wewbsite where several deals are detailed.
Thank you for this program Ashampoo, though I'd already upgraded from 4 to 5 when it was last offered here last year. :)
The upgrade from 5 to 6 is a very generous offer. Thank you. I'll have to check what additional features you've added to see if its worth it.
I love the ability to scroll the capture window for images that more than fill the screen or if i want to capture a complete web page. Nice one. :)
10 out of 10 from me a nd a big thumbs up.
Nickel complet, très facile.
Merci
