Today's software is a small subset of their "Spy Voice Recorder".
Upon start a small non resizable window opens, in the settings you can define autostart, folder, sample rate and hotkeys.
The program shows in the tray, not hidden.
Unfortunately I could not test the software, because I don't know with whom I can talk so early on Sunday morning. I assume that the recording is working. At least I hope.

it is not as easy to define, whether a software is "hardware-tied", but you can assume, that it is not, if a key is given in the setup like today or given on a webpage from the company like Ashampoo. If a key must be generated first on your computer, then you can assume, that this is with some probability bound to your hardware. HTH.

there is a bunch of free call recorders (see e.g. www.dvdvideosoft.com/products/dvd/Free-Video-Call-Recorder-for-Skype.htm which can record also video, pause recording etc). i am just curious, what makes this soft worth 40 bucks?
Before downloading and testing and mainly because of its high price thought I would try a free audio recorder.
The free program I chose is Mp3mymp3; set my RealTek audio to Line Volume, and using the Echo/Sound Test Service in Skype, one of the few areas Microsoft hasn't totally destroyed, decided to have a conversation with it.
The result was a recording of both sides of the conversation, so it appears it's not necessary to pay such a high price to record in Skype.

A small handy audio call recorder from a company specializing in spy-software.I'd prefer to record a radiocast or streaming music/ skype calls on my own than let this software "automatically" tap into my system.A few freebies to do only what I want :

This might come in handy some day. I'm learning French with Skype at Preply.com ( http://preply.com/en/french-by-skype ) and I sometimes tend to forget some things, given the fact that it is not my native language. I'm thinking of getting this but I have no idea how to use it. I will consult with my brother about this.
