To all:
It has been over five years since I last commented here on GOTD (okay, I was really busy... ), but some of todays comments have spurred me to do so again. There are some folks who apparently don't understand the costs of running a large, distributed network of servers, located in "co-located" facilities (aka co-lo's) around the world, supported by a 24-7 staff, and paying major, tier-1 carriers (e.g., in the US, companies like AT&T, and in Europe, companies like British Telecom) for bandwidth (i.e., data transfer).
Having worked in this field, during the heyday of the dot-com companies (for a leading bandwidth provider), I can tell you that it is a VERY expensive playing field. Even if the folks at VPN Unlimited salvaged all of their servers from somebody else's trash pile, and used the free Linux operating system, the cost remote of facilities that house their serves, the remote staff that services them (e.g., security, electricians, HVAC types, etc.), their in-house staff of administrators, programmers, and security-focused types, and a 24-7 control center to monitor the network, PLUS the cost of the bandwidth from the various Tier-1 providers (and, in most locations, Tier-2 regional providers who connect to the big Tier-1 types, since the Tier-1 providers usually only want to work with [also known as "peering"] the other Tier-1 carriers), it takes a great deal of on-hand operating cash to run a business like theirs. While I have never used this company's product, the fact that they say they operate 400+ servers in multiple countries leads me to believe that they are well funded enough that they won't disappear the way so many other companies have in this industry.
Therefore, a hearty thanks to the folks at VPN Unlimited for going beyond their normal 7-day free trial period, and offering us UNLIMITED and (and, given the number of folks who visit GOTD on a daily basis) damned expensive bandwidth. I WILL be trialing your services as a result of this offer (to be honest, with so many VPN providers to choose from, the typical 7-day freebie wouldn't interest me).
And, thanks to your support team for actually watching these posts, AND RESPONDING, unlike so many vendors who come to GOTD, but can't seem to be bothered to respond to reasonable comments, or even grumbling...
6 months?! So not so much a 'giveaway' as a 'trial'. Why not giveaway v6 or even v5 to give us a carrot to upgrade, rather than whip it away from us in a couple of months, hoping we'll continue the subscription. Even shareware had a better software model - the latest version, but either slightly crippled or full of nag screens. The software didn't die after a month or so. Grumble grumble and why are the buses always late grumble grumble and why don't mobile phones last all day rather than only 8 hours grumble grumble and there is nothing on telly anymore grumble grumble
Chris, we offer 7 days of free trial, so all new customers can test our service to see if it satisfies their needs before they decide to make a purchase. 6 months of free subscription with full and unlimited access to all of our public VPN servers (400+ high-speed servers across 70+ locations all over the world) is a great giveaway, which provides plenty of time to enjoy the service. We hope you'll have a great time using VPN Unlimited, feel free to reach out to our 24/7 support service anytime you need assistance - support@keepsolid.com
I think I'll pass.

Michael, the website you refer to is a joke, they work in the following way:
If you are a VPN provider, you either pay them money to get a high rank, or else they put you on 70th place mentioning you're not user-friendly ;)
"Best" VPN? I have checked half a dozen lists of (paid) VPNs, with the top 5, 7 or 10 products. This one is not on any of them! So, "best"? Based on what? Plus, there are a lot of good free VPNs out there...
