Weird software. Most people want to rip commercial DVDs - just how much of the general population want to rip non-commercial DVDs? Can you even get non-commercial DVDs? And DVDs? In this world of 720p, 1080p and 4K video, who watches DVDs anymore?
The only advantage of DVDs over downloading movies 'elsewhere' is commentary tracks.

senzai6293, also there are bunch of old videos on DVD that never made the jump to 1080p or even 2K, there is not much incentive for studios to re-produce old stuff for most companies, so you have to deal with just DVD quality. There are rare findings of old movies being re-produced in 1080p from DVD quality to squeeze some bucks out of it in a sale but as mentioned, that is very rare. Most companies don't care and ride with the old train.
